A line of thunderstorms extending from the northern portions of Louisiana into Southeast Arkansas and Northern Mississippi shifted across Northeast Louisiana during the afternoon on March 7th. These leading thunderstorms presented a strong downburst potential capable of damaging wind gusts, with the greatest threat associated with any localized bowing segments or downbursts supported by modest DCAPE and a well-mixed boundary layer. One such thunderstorm produced a 59 mph wind gust at the Monroe Regional Airport during the mid-afternoon.
