What the National Weather Service wrote
Mississippi Canyon 474 measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 44 mph or 38 knots.
The wider storm
A potent mid-level system drove strong cold front eastward across the region, including adjacent coastal waters. Ahead of the boundary, a robust low-level jet brough in warm, buoyant, and very moist air northward from the Gulf. Night timing of the line of storms that developed along the front did limit low level instability, however, elevated instability and frontal lift were more than enough to overcome the lack of surface heating. Several locations across coastal waters observed severe convective wind gusts.
Began near Kdsf - Mississippi Canyon 650 (28.5210, -88.2890).
