Drought in Pittsburg, Oklahoma
Drought April 1, 2026 – April 21, 2026 · Pittsburg, Oklahoma
The wider storm
Much of eastern Oklahoma experienced above average precipitation during April, with widespread five to eight inches of rainfall occurring across the area, and up to about twelve inches falling locally. This corresponded to 150 to 300 percent of monthly average precipitation occurring across much of the region. However, portions of eastern Oklahoma only received between 75 and 90 percent of monthly average precipitation amounts. As a result of the widespread rainfall across much of the region during the month, drought conditions improved across much of the area, with only portions of Wagoner, Cherokee, Mayes, and Choctaw Counties remaining in severe (D2) drought conditions by the end of the month. The far eastern portion of Choctaw County remained in extreme (D3) drought conditions through the month. Monetary damage estimates as a result of the drought were not available.
