Strong Wind in Tyler, West Virginia
Strong Wind March 13, 2026 · Tyler, West Virginia
The wider storm
A tightened pressure gradient stemming from an advancing low pressure system resulted in a windy day across the state of West Virginia on March 13th. A slight uptick was noted in the morning, then later increasing to peak gusts of 45 to 55 miles per hour across the Central Appalachians as daytime heating helped mix down the stronger winds from aloft. Winds of this intensity prevailed into the late afternoon and evening hours before gradually declining around sunset that evening as the pressure gradient eased its hold over the area. Utility companies and county 911 call centers reported numerous downed trees and power lines across their respective counties as a result of these strong winds.
