Heavy Snow in Burnett, Wisconsin
Heavy Snow March 14, 2026 – March 15, 2026 · Burnett, Wisconsin
What the National Weather Service wrote
Snowfall totals for the event were in the 6 to 10 inch range. A high report of 13.2 inches was received from near Shell Lake.
The wider storm
An area of low pressure developed across the Southern Plains on the 14th and moved northeastward into the Great Lakes by the morning of the 16th. Additionally, a weak cold front dropped south out of Canada ahead of this system. Snowfall was not as heavy as expected as the system tracked a bit further south and a severe weather outbreak across the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys prevented moisture from reaching into the Upper Midwest. Snowfall amounts ended up in the 4 to 8 inch range with isolated higher amounts to just over 14 inches. Winds were not as strong as forecast, so blizzard conditions did not occur.
