Wind gusts of 40 knots (46 MPH) were measured by the Hart/Miller WeatherFlow sensor (XHRT) between 5:00 and 5:15 PM.

The wider storm

A strong cold front ignited a band of thunderstorms. The gust front rushed out ahead of the precipitation cores, but given the steep low-level lapse rates the gusts were able to maintain gale- to even storm-force as they crossed portions of the waters late in the afternoon.
