The wider storm
A low pressure system impacted western Massachusetts on the final day of March of 2026, bringing widespread rainfall and evening thunderstorms as its associated cold front tracked through the region. Over the course of the event, about 0.5 to 1.3 inches of rain fell across western Massachusetts with the heaviest rainfall rates occurring within thunderstorms that tracked just ahead of the boundary in the late evening. While most thunderstorms proved to be sub-severe in strength, an isolated storm did, per radar estimation, produce a severe-level wind gust which downed a tree in Lenox.
