A photo was received via social media showing three 5 inch diameter softwood trees broken a few feet up the trunks.

The wider storm

Thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front across northeastern Minnesota on the afternoon of the 17th. These storms mainly produced large hail to the size of half dollars and gusty winds snapped a few trees.

Began near Duluth Hgts (46.8000, -92.1200).
