What the National Weather Service wrote
The Saco River at Conway reached minor flood conditions on the morning of March 17. Numerous campgrounds flooded. The river reached 9.23 ft, exceeding the 7 ft flood stage.
The wider storm
A warm storm brought mountain snow-melt, heavy rain and gusty winds as a potent low pressure system pushed across the area March 16-17th. This caused some minor ice jams, but no ice left its banks during this event. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches fell over the 36 hour period leading to rapid stream and river rises across the state. A few rivers reached minor flood stage, with most other rivers remaining just below flood stage or in action stage. Long term drought helped mitigate flood conditions as base flow river levels where very low.
Began near Conway (43.9800, -71.1200).
