The wider storm
On May 25th, height falls ahead of an incoming trough and surface heating allowed for weak instability to build in across southwest Idaho. Strong south-southwesterly winds ahead of an incoming cold front allowed for a hot, well-mixed boundary layer and subsequent inverted-V temperature profiles. Shear was weak but sufficient to support a multicell with a damaging wind threat. Severe winds resulting in numerous trees down across the area.
Began near Floating Feather Arp (44.7200, -116.1100).
