The wider storm
A robust cold front crossed eastern Kentucky late in the night of March 22nd and early on the morning of the 23rd. The system was characterized by a sharp transition between a warm antecedent air mass and a significantly cooler, drier post-frontal air mass. The primary impact was driven by a southeastward-diving, outflow-reinforced frontal boundary that preceded the main area of showers. While convective activity was relatively weak, this hybrid outflow/frontal boundary produced localized high wind gusts in Fleming County, downing multiple large trees, one of which resulted in structural damage to a residence.
Began near Elizaville (38.3970, -83.8402).
