Dust Storm in Logan, Kansas

Dust Storm April 23, 2026 · Logan, Kansas

What the National Weather Service wrote

Quarter mile visibility in blowing dust reported three miles south of Oakley as a weak line of showers moved through.

The wider storm

Winds from weak showers in East Central CO pushed an outflow boundary into Northwest Kansas. Wind gusts up to 60 MPH were measured at the Goodland airport as the boundary moved through. As the outflow boundary continued eastward it collected enough dust to cause dust storm conditions in Wallace, Thomas, Logan, and Gove counties along and behind it. The high winds blew over a semi and sparked a grassfire between MM 46 and 47 on I-70.
