The wider storm

A weak short wave trough moved overhead on the evening of the 21st within the larger cyclonic flow aloft. Most of region remained cool and stable with cloud cover persisting for much of the day. Areas across New Mexico saw clearing in the afternoon which allowed isolated thunderstorms to develop and drift into West Texas. One of these storms moved into western Cochran County producing penny size hail near Bledsoe.
