Frost/Freeze May 18, 2026 – May 19, 2026 · Northern Clearwater Mountains, Idaho

What the National Weather Service wrote

Frosty mornings were observed with temperatures ranging between 27 and 29 degrees from Pierce to Grangemont, and 32 degrees in Elk River.

The wider storm

An unseasonably cold upper-level trough, originally an Aleutian Low/Gulf of Alaska low, sagged south over the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies and brought a prolonged period of late-season winter weather, including accumulating mountain snow and unseasonably cold temperatures leading to frost and hard freezes across north-central Idaho.
