The wider storm

An unseasonably cold upper-level trough, originally an Aleutian Low/Gulf of Alaska low, sagged south over the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies and brought a prolonged period of late-season winter weather, including accumulating mountain snow and unseasonably cold temperatures leading to frost and hard freezes across north-central Idaho.
