The wider storm
A mesoscale convective system (MCS) developed and tracked southeast through Middle Tennessee during the afternoon of June 9, 2026. With abnormally high amounts of atmospheric moisture, these thunderstorms were able to produce very heavy rainfall with rain amounts of five to seven inches reported across portions of Sumner and Robertson counties. This caused flash flooding for these areas, particularly in low-lying areas and those along area creeks. This MCS also produced severe thunderstorm winds which downed several trees and caused other minor damage before it weakened across southern Middle Tennessee.
Began near Baggettsville (36.4300, -86.7200).
