The wider storm
A shortwave advancing through the Ohio Valley and Pennsylvania allowed for a complex of thunderstorms to develop across western Pennsylvania during the morning hours of June 10, 2026. Upscale growth of this complex continued into portions of central Pennsylvania where slightly more moisture and instability was in place, with CAPE values peaking between 2000-3000 J/kg during the afternoon hours across much of the region. Storms largely stayed below severe limits due to the lack of bulk shear; however, some strong-to-severe thunderstorms knocked down trees in northern York County. Multiple rounds of heavy rainfall occurred during portions of Mifflin County, where ponding of water occurred due to a slow-moving thunderstorm ahead of this complex with additional rainfall occurring during the afternoon hours.
Began near Lewistown (40.5948, -77.5699).
