Thunderstorms trained over a portion of western Cochran County producing heavy rainfall for over an hour. A storm chaser reported water over the road at the intersection of Texas Highway 114 and County Road 55.
The wider storm
Much of the day of the fifth was cloudy which prevented boundary layer mixing and thus inhibited most convection. Some clearing of clouds over eastern New Mexico into the western South Plains allowed rapid heating to occur which resulted in scattered thunderstorm activity. Weak atmospheric flow allowed storms to train over western Cochran County which produced heavy rainfall and flash flooding along Texas State Highway 114.
Began near Bledsoe (33.7487, -102.9675).
