The wider storm

An active weather day transpired on May 19th in southeast Ohio as a quick succession of storms passed through the area. The first round was observed during the late afternoon, when scattered thunderstorm development that moved in a southwest to northeast fashion. This clipped portions of Jackson County and resulted in several downed trees and power lines around the area. A few hours later, a line of thunderstorms slowly progressing through the Ohio Valley arrived into Perry and Morgan Counties around sunset. Decaying storms due to the loss of daytime heating caused downburst winds that promoted hundreds of homes to be without power due to downed trees and power lines. The weakening trend prospered into the late evening hours, bringing the severe threat over southeast Ohio to an end.

Began near Jackson (39.0500, -82.6400).
