The wider storm
A broken band of supercell thunderstorms developed across Southeast Oklahoma late in the afternoon on April 28th, with this convection being largely focused along an outflow boundary and warm front lifting northward. The downstream air mass on the western edge of an earlier cold pool in far Southwest Arkansas adjacent to Southeast Oklahoma was still recovering with MLCAPE values rebounding to 2500-3500 J/kg. This recovering air mass coupled with an environment featuring 50-55 knots of effective bulk shear and effective storm-relative helicity (SRH) of around 200 m2/s2 supported the continuation of these supercells. As a result, one report of large hail and a couple of isolated damaging wind gusts were recorded across parts of McCurtain County during the late afternoon on April 28th.
Began near Millerton (33.9800, -94.9800).
