Winter Weather in Northern Penobscot, Maine
Winter Weather April 5, 2026 · Northern Penobscot, Maine
What the National Weather Service wrote
Roughly an inch of snow and sleet fell in Northern Penobscot by early morning Sunday.
The wider storm
Low pressure system moved over the Great Lakes region Saturday evening, resulting in warm air advection in the mid-levels. Deep warm nose led to sleet, and then a sleet/freezing rain mix early Sunday morning in the north and Central Highlands region. Very cold low-level layer helped precipitation to refreeze. Roughly an inch or so of snow fell in the north, alongside an inch to an inch and a half of sleet by Sunday morning. Impacts were mainly just a messy clean up period.
