Warm mid-layer temperatures move in with associated warm front, transitioning snow in the northern regions over to mixed precipitation. Snow transitioned to sleet, sleet to freezing rain, and freezing rain to rain throughout Thursday. Transition to mixed precipitation began before sunrise from Central Highlands to Northwest Aroostook County, and then over to northern Aroostook when the sun rose. A trace - 0.05 inches of freezing rain in the Central Highlands, Upper Penobscot Valley, and Downeast region. A trace - 0.75 inches of sleet fell in the Central Highlands region. Sleet fell on top of snowfall, which had resulted in messy clean up period.
