The wider storm

A deepening low-pressure system located across the western Canadian Prairies moved into Manitoba on April 23rd, 2026. A surface cold front associated with this low was stretched across Minnesota. This aided the development of showers and thunderstorms that afternoon. A few stronger storms did produce large hail measuring quarter size (Freeborn Co.) and half-dollar size (Meeker Co.). Additionally, in southern Minnesota, the AWOS station located in Albert Lea measured a 62-mph wind gust.

Began near Becker (45.3900, -93.9200).
