Heavy Snow in Cascade County Below 5000ft, Montana
Heavy Snow April 2, 2026 – April 3, 2026 · Cascade County Below 5000ft, Montana
What the National Weather Service wrote
Several trained spotters as well as WFO Great Falls measured total snowfall in excess of 6 inches. The peak observation for the event was 11.5 inches 7 miles SSE of Ulm.
The wider storm
An upper and mid level low just east of the region resulted in a relatively strong northwesterly flow through the column. This flow is favorable for many mountain ranges as well as upslope areas adjacent to mountains, including near Great Falls and Bozeman, which both received heavy snow. Mountain areas did not fare so well, with peak reports coming in from lower elevations.
