What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

The National Weather Service surveyed the Palm Springs North community

and determined the EF0 rating based on mostly tree and power pole

damage. The survey team also noted scattered fence and signage damage.

The wider storm

A front stalled to the north, increased tropical moisture, and a disturbance aloft led to the development of strong to severe thunderstorms over portions of Southeast Florida and the local Atlantic waters on April 7, 2026.

Began near Palm Spgs North (25.9423, -80.3323).
