The wider storm
Within the warm sector of a low pressure system, sufficient destabilization and increased shear ahead of a prefrontal trough led to the development of scattered showers and thunderstorms that tracked into western Massachusetts on April 14th. In the evening of April 14th, a cluster of thunderstorms morphed into more of a linear segment which produced severe wind gusts that led to reports of tree damage and subsequent traffic delays near Lee and Dalton, Massachusetts. Additionally, the Pittsfield ASOS recorded a peak wind gust of 59 mph when this storm moved over it.
Began near Lanesborough (42.5084, -73.2114).
