The wider storm

During the afternoon and evening of April 25th, 2026, thunderstorms advancing into eastern Nebraska produced isolated pockets of large hail. This convection was driven by a cold front sweeping through the area. Ahead of the boundary, dewpoints rose into the mid-50s, supporting modest elevated instability (MUCAPE up to 1000 J/kg) alongside adequate deep-layer bulk shear. The first hail report was received around 4:56 PM CST near Seward, NE. Additional reports of hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter were received in Beatrice, NE, while a 1.75-inch hailstone was reported near Elk Creek, NE. Convective activity gradually decayed into the evening hours.

Began near Table Rock (40.2400, -96.1400).
