The wider storm
A suitable environment for increased convective activity developed as an upper low moved from the central Rockies toward the Middle Mississippi Valley, coinciding with an upper jet that provided diffluent flow over the Mid-South. Combined with mid-level height falls, dewpoints in the upper 60s, 0-6 km bulk shear of 25-30 kts, and SBCAPE values of 600-800 J/kg, these conditions generated sufficient instability for the upscale growth of strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts.
Began near (jbr)jonesboro Muni (35.8300, -90.6500).
