A trained spotter reported that roads in Palatka, FL were covered in moving water due to heavy rainfall.
The wider storm
A frontal boundary stalled over southeast Georgia on May 29th and gradually dissipated through May 31st as it meandered southward to the Florida-Georgia border. Deep moisture (PWATs 2+ inches) combined with the frontal boundary and passing shortwaves aloft continued a numerous to widespread shower and thunderstorm pattern each day. Light southwesterly flow ahead of the boundary resulted in slow moving downpours in a Gulf sea breeze dominant regime. Heaviest rainfall amounts were near the I-95 corridor where the Gulf sea breeze collided with the pinned Atlantic sea breeze.
Began near Palatka (29.6400, -81.6500).
