Blizzard in Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island, Alaska
Blizzard April 21, 2026 · Kuskokwim Delta Coast and Nunivak Island, Alaska
What the National Weather Service wrote
The Toksook Bay ASOS (PAOO) recorded blizzard conditions with 40 to 50 mph wind gusts, visibility less than a quarter of a mile, and blowing snow from 6:40 PM AKDT April 21 to 12:15 AM AKDT April 22.
The wider storm
A front associated with a strong Bering low pushed across the Kuskokwim Delta late April 21 into the morning of the April 22, bringing notable winter weather impacts to the region. As the front entered the region, strong southwesterly winds (gusting 40-50mph) blew onshore. This, combined with moderate to heavy snowfall, promoted blowing snow conditions for the Kuskokwim Delta Coast, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less through the late afternoon/evening hours on April 21.
