The wider storm
A strong mid-level ridge anchored off the East Coast continued to pump a highly anomalous, warm air mass directly into New England. This allowed unseasonable warm air on the order of 20 to 25 degrees above normal. By the afternoon a surface cold front began to sweep into Northern New Hampshire, triggering thunderstorms. A few of the storms became severe across Coos and Grafton Counties.
Began near North Haverhill (44.0900, -72.0300).
