The wider storm

Warm, moist air combined with the influence of a dryline located across the eastern portion of the Texas Panhandle. This resulted in the development of an isolated thunderstorm during the evening of May 9th. With enough cold air present in the upper atmosphere, this allowed for large hail to grow within the storm and fall across portions of eastern Texas Panhandle. Additional storms developed during the early morning hours of May 10th along a southward moving cold front. These early morning storms produced hail between 1 and 1.5 over the northeastern combined Panhandles.

Began near Wheeler (35.4800, -100.2200).
