What the National Weather Service wrote

Several public reports of an ongoing waterspout in the Core Sound between Stacy and Davis North Carolina as thunderstorms moved through the area.

The wider storm

A weak cold front tracked across Eastern North Carolina during the morning and afternoon hours of May thirtieth. As the front tracked across the coastal waters of Eastern North Carolina, scattered showers and thunderstorms developed along the coast with an isolated storm or two becoming strong in nature. The strongest storm that developed produced a waterspout in the Core Sound given the favorable environment.

Began near Davis (34.8111, -76.4274).
