The wider storm

The passage of a southeastward-moving upper system (and associated surface front) fostered scattered severe thunderstorms during the evening of the 9th, focused across portions of western Oklahoma. Large to very large hail was the main storm hazard amid steep lapse rates and strong wind shear, sufficient for supercells. Focused areas of wind damage occurred near Sayre and northeast of Lawton as well.

Began near Burns Flat (35.3529, -99.1790).
