The ASOS at Raton Crews Municipal Airport measured a brief 59 mph wind gust as high based showers passed though the site.

The wider storm

A disturbance ahead of a larger scale system over the western U.S. resulted in the development of isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across north central and eastern New Mexico during the afternoon hours. High based showers and thunderstorms resulted in brief severe wind gusts at the Las Vegas and Raton Crews Municipal Airports. Showers and thunderstorms exited east into West Texas during the evening hours.
