The wider storm
During the early evening hours on the 17th, an isolated severe thunderstorm moved east out of east-central Colorado and into northwest Kansas, ahead of a strong cold front approaching from the northwest. Large hail up to ping-pong ball size was reported in Sherman County.
Began near Caruso (39.2400, -101.8200).
