Two power poles snapped north of town near Hwy 13 by thunderstorm winds. The of the time of the event was estimated using radar.

The wider storm

A strong storms system passing to our north resulted in a decaying mesoscale convective system moving across the area late in the night from May 17 into the 18th. Part of the this system re-intensified over eastern Iowa producing isolated damaging wind gusts and large hail up to the size of a half dollar.
