Drought in Montgomery, Tennessee

Drought June 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026 · Montgomery, Tennessee

What the National Weather Service wrote

Severe to extreme drought conditions from May 2026 improved in June with moderate to severe drought conditions across Montgomery County.

The wider storm

An overall active pattern continued into June 2026 with daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms. By the end of the month, most of Middle Tennessee received generally 3 to 8 inches of rain with the highest amounts favoring areas along and near the Tennessee River as well as areas near the Tennessee/Alabama border. It was also these areas that received more than their monthly normal precipitation while other areas continued to run a deficit. Fortunately, these repeated rounds of rain continued to improve drought conditions. For the first time since April 2026, none of Middle Tennessee was in extreme drought. About 11 percent of the area continued to be in severe drought, an improvement from 34 percent in May.
