What EF0 means. On the Enhanced Fujita scale, EF0 is light damage: shingles and siding peeled, gutters torn, branches broken, consistent with estimated gusts of 65–85 mph. The rating comes from a survey of the worst damage after the storm, not from a wind measurement, so it says as much about what the tornado hit as about how strong it was.

What the National Weather Service wrote

This tornado downed multiple trees along a path in a wooded area west of LA Highway 15 just north of the Deer Park community. The tornado was observed from LA 15 by a storm chaser. The maximum estimated wind speed was 85 mph.

The wider storm

A significant severe weather outbreak across northeast Louisiana and central and southern MS amid a favorably sheared environment. A capping inversion limited early convection, which allowed for higher instability. Supercell initiation began in the afternoon and eroded the capping inversion to allow a long track supercell to take root. This supercell produced a long track EF-3 tornados. Several other brief, weak tornadoes occurred. Supercells also produced hail as large as baseballs and straight line wind damage also occurred. The duration of rainfall also lead to flash flooding.

Began near Deer Park (31.4499, -91.6008).
