The wider storm

During the evening of May 30, bands and clusters of thunderstorms emerged and spread northeastward. Initially, these convective clusters tracked through an axis of higher MLCAPE before migrating toward a region of lower buoyancy across eastern Nebraska and far eastern Kansas. Despite the decrease in buoyancy, the presence of established cold pools associated with the clusters, combined with the strengthening of the nocturnal low-level jet, maintained these thunderstorms into southeast and east-central Nebraska. Shear was rather limited, leading to a popcorn effect where updrafts quickly increased and then decreased in strength. Hail was estimated up to penny sized in Boys Town, NE at 8:14 PM CST and quarter sized near Tamora, NE at 9:16 PM CST. The thunderstorms continued northward and gradually decayed into the evening.

Began near Millard (41.2300, -96.0900).
