Drought in Northern Franklin County, Arkansas

Drought May 5, 2026 – May 31, 2026 · Northern Franklin County, Arkansas

The wider storm

Although northwestern Arkansas received between three and ten inches of rain during May, much of the area experienced below average precipitation during the month. The exceptions were in northern Benton and eastern Carroll Counties, where monthly precipitation was 125 to 175 percent above average monthly precipitation amounts. Much of the region only received between 50 and 75 percent of the average monthly rainfall. This resulted in severe (D2) drought conditions being maintained in portions of Madison and Carroll Counties, and expanding into portions of Crawford and Franklin Counties during the month. Monetary damage estimates as a result of the drought were not available.
