The wider storm

Scattered thunderstorms developed along an outflow boundary well ahead of a slow-moving cold front during the early morning of May 16th. Due to a dry sub-cloud environment, the cells were able to produce damaging wind gusts of 60-80mph north of a Galesburg to Minonk line. Later in the morning, a collapsing shower resulted in downburst winds of around 80mph and widespread damage across western parts of Jacksonville in Morgan County.

Began near Victoria (41.0300, -90.0808).
