The wider storm
A cluster of strong to severe thunderstorms progressed southeast into portions of extreme Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas during the afternoon hours of May 19th, ahead of a weak cold front that became stationary over Southern Oklahoma and portions of North Texas. Storm organization persisted southeast of the front across portions of Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas, where modest instability and an attendant gust front ahead of the storms focused renewed development within a moist and unstable air mass. As a result, a few of these storms became strong/severe, which downed a couple of trees near Hope and Lewisville in Hempstead/Lafayette Counties. These storms weakened further later in the afternoon/evening as they exited the area.
Began near Hope (33.6599, -93.5863).
