With low pressure strengthening and tracking northeastward towards Chicago, the Quad State region experienced breezy southerly to southeasterly winds throughout the daytime hours. Spotty wind gusts to 40+mph were observed in Southeast Missouri, with the strongest gust measured 49mph at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport's ASOS site. Showers and a few thunderstorms moved eastward across Southeast Missouri during the late afternoon hours.
