What the National Weather Service wrote

A severe thunderstorm, producing wind gusts estimated near 60 mph, knocked down multiple trees onto Curwensville Grampian Highway near Curwensville.

The wider storm

An upper-level trough moving across the Great Lakes brought ample lift to portions of northern Pennsylvania that lead to thunderstorm development during the afternoon and evening hours of June 25, 2026. A narrow corridor of sufficient instability (1000 J/kg) and bulk shear (30 knots) allowed for marginally severe thunderstorms to form across western Pennsylvania. As these storms developed, upscale growth continued into portions of Clearfield and Centre counties, where a severe thunderstorm brought multiple instances of tree damage south of Clearfield. This appears to have occurred when the thunderstorm's core dropped towards the surface as radar analysis outlined that the storm rapidly weakened further east throughout the evening hours.

Began near Bridgeport (40.9744, -78.5434).
