What the National Weather Service wrote
The Onslow County Emergency Manager relayed a report of a waterspout seen on the White Oak River north of Swansboro. Multiple reports and pictures were received from the public as well.
The wider storm
A seabreeze which was pinned along the Crystal Coast combined with a stalled frontal boundary to produce a cluster of thunderstorms near the New River and White Oak River during the afternoon of June sixteenth. With enhanced helicity values due to the stalled front being around the area, a few of these storms became strong in nature with a thunderstorm producing a waterspout along the White Oak River.
Began near Bogue Inlet (34.7522, -77.1339).
