The wider storm
An approaching cold front and trough of low pressure combined with a very unstable airmass producing conditions conducive to robust thunderstorm development. Showers and thunderstorms developed across the Coastal Plain and along the immediate coast of South Carolina and quickly pushed northeastwards tracking mainly east of Hwy 17 and along the coastal waters of Eastern North Carolina while strengthening during the late morning to early afternoon hours of June nineteenth. A few of these storms became severe in nature and brought strong winds to the Crystal Coast and Pamlico Sound.
Began near Frisco (35.2534, -75.6232).
