The wider storm
Persistent mid and upper-level troughing to the west and warm advection along the northern edge of an enhanced Gulf low-level flow maintained a moist and unstable environment across the region. By late morning and afternoon, convection formed a slow-evolving cluster across southern Mississippi, with repeated storms producing very heavy rainfall. Flash flooding developed in the Pascagoula and Moss Point areas.
Began near Pascagoula (30.3700, -88.5600).
