A weak midlevel low over eastern Texas and multiple mesoscale convective vortices maintained widespread convection along the central Gulf Coast on May 25th. Deep moisture and sufficient instability supported efficient rainfall as successive storms moved north and northeast over soils saturated by repeated rainfall during the previous several days. Flash flooding affected New Orleans from these storms.
