The wider storm

Broad southwesterly flow aloft on the eastern side of a western CONUS trough carried several weak disturbances across the central Gulf Coast, while southeasterly low-level flow maintained deep moisture. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms developed across southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. Locally heavy rainfall produced flash flooding and a stronger storm caused tree damage in southern Mississippi.

Began near Mc Neil (30.6600, -89.6600).
